Our goal is to make finding the right therapist more informed, personalized, and accessible from the very beginning.

Ocean takes a matching-first approach by using information from both client and clinician intakes to identify potential matches based on factors like communication style, preferences, prior therapy experiences, clinical approach, and other elements that contribute to therapeutic fit. Our goal is to make finding the right therapist more personalized, not replace your judgment.

Ocean’s matching process is built around therapeutic alliance, or the relationship between a client and clinician, which research has consistently shown is one of the strongest predictors of positive therapy outcomes. Your intake captures factors beyond traditional directory filters, including your preferences, communication style, prior therapy experiences, and what you’re looking for in a therapist. This information is considered alongside clinician expertise and treatment approach to identify potential matches. While no system can guarantee a perfect match, Ocean is designed to help create stronger starting points for the therapeutic relationship.

Ocean is currently free for clients. Our goal is to make accessing the right care as simple as possible while helping connect you with clinicians who may be a strong fit for your needs.

Ocean uses AI to help analyze client and clinician intake information and identify factors that may contribute to therapeutic fit. AI supports the matching process but does not diagnose, assess, or make clinical recommendations. Your information is not sent to third-party AI providers, and personally identifiable information is never used to train our models. As we collect more real-world matching data and feedback, our goal is to continue improving the matching system and eventually transition to an in-house machine learning model.

Protecting your information is a core priority at Ocean. We collect only the information needed to support the matching experience and platform functionality. Information you share during the intake process is used to help identify potential matches between clients and clinicians, and we use security practices and data masking processes designed to protect personal information and reduce the risk of identifiable information being exposed or misused. Ocean does not diagnose, assess, or make clinical recommendations. Our role is to help facilitate introductions between people seeking care and clinicians who may be a strong fit.

Yes. We believe privacy is a fundamental right, and users should have control over their information. You can opt out of having your de-identified intake information used to improve the platform at any time by contacting our privacy team at privacy@tryocean.io. Personally identifiable information is never used to train or improve Ocean’s matching system, and opting out will not affect your matches or your access to the platform.
